Abstract

The existing traffic knowledge assessment procedures may be divided into two categories. The first category consists of explorative studies, which aim to gather as much information as possible about children's knowledge of traffic signs, words, signal and behaviour. The second category of procedures is standardized measurement instruments that are used to evaluate educational programs. Since no test instrument for traffic knowledge exist that meets certain requirements, a test has been set up, which is designed to be used as an evaluation instrument for an educational program aiming at preschool children.
