Abstract

Differing perceptions of consumer safety standards are presented in order to show how they have been misinterpreted. The Standards Association of Australia (SAA) is partly responsible for it and now it is time to consider whether SAA should continue its work on the same way or should provide both sound engineering guidelines and measures of merit, to satisfy the needs of consumers, industry and commerce.
