Abstract

Case histories are cited to illustrate the benefits of seat belt usage and the tragedies of failure to use them. Consumer attitudes on the safety belt laws are discussed, including the interlock system, and design problems are described. It is suggested that some of these problems will be eliminated as time passes, and that the problem at hand is to convince the public to use the safety devices.
