Abstract

In order to judge zoning maps near roads with respect to air quality TNO-MEP has developed a method using a geographic information system. The method is based on the TNO dispersion model for emissions by road traffic, road geometry and traffic information originating from the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. The concentration contribution of air pollutants calculated by the dispersion model are added to the background concentrations. The total concentrations are then compared against the limit values. The calculated concentrations are in a study for the Province of Zuid-Holland in the Netherlands. (A)
