Abstract

The study assesses the predictive strengths of various visibility concepts and formulations and identifies the most suitable technique for visibility quantification in an actual roadway environment. Field experiments were used to evaluate the various visibility techniques in use today. New techniques and equipment have made it possible to make dynamic measurements of contrast. Contrast appears to be one of the most important parameters of visibility.
