Abstract

A field study of the part stone size and orientation play in the promotion of skid resistance is described. It reveals a limited but an effective way of using polish susceptible stone on difficult sites by judicious selection of stone size. Of necessity, a means of determining a critical level of coefficient of friction for road surfacing is outlined.
