Abstract

Mobility application has the clearest business case with highest success chances of all intelligent transportation systems (ITS) applications. Usage of mobile phones is the simplest way to forward data to a centralized server because of cellular service availability, but scalability and privacyare noticeable problems. Vehicle-to-vehicle network can solve those issues when used in conjunction with mobile phones. A model based on electing asingle vehicle out of a group of vehicles in proximity, and using it as agateway to convey data to infrastructure is presented in this paper. Scalability and privacy issues are resolved.
