Abstract

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is directing an evaluation of several advanced public transportation systems (APTS) operational tests in the U.S. These evaluations are being undertaken by the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (the Volpe Center). This paper summarizes the local objectives of several APTS operational tests around the country which are currently being evaluated. The paper will assess the degree to which the local objectives complement the achievement of the national APTS objectives, and how both sets of objectives can be addressed within a single evaluation.
