Abstract

Practices of several countries in planning and developing transportation facilities were investigated. Planning and some degree of control of development have been accepted practices for many years, particularly in European countries, but the relatively sudden emergence of the motor vehicle as a factor in personal travel has brought the problem of realistic planning and development control into sharp focus.
