Abstract

The report is intended to assist in the identification and analysis of hazards on public roadways. Considerable information has been compiled from a variety of sources to aid the practicing transportation engineer and localdecision maker in analyzing the transportation system and in selecting potential improvements in the system. Major topic areas are: inventory methods; clear roadside and sight distance requirements; breakaway devices; crash attenuators; pedestrian and bicycle safety.
