Abstract

The aim of COST Activity 329 is to specify an efficient methodology for the analysis of past and future traffic safety developments based on available knowledge. This includes the applicability of time-series modelling techniques. It is planned to make use of traffic speed developments to detect unexpected changes. Future safety developments will also be examined to plan safety programmes and assess the effects of new large scale safety actions. International comparisons will be made at aggregated and disaggregated levels of safety. An investigation will also be made on safety issues from the effects of factors such as the amount of traffic, demographic and economic trends. A questionnaire has been circulated to each country to register data.
