Abstract

This paper presents the first results of a Greek research effort. This effort has been undertaken by the University of Thessaloniki School of Technology. The main aim is to calculate the cost of road accidents in Greece in a comprehensive way. The findings so far are based on data coming from both the hospital records and from the data bank of the Association of Insurance Companies in Greece. The remaining cost items will be analyzed and explored in the next stages of the research effort. The aim is to obtain final cost estimations for the different accident types.
