Abstract

In 1980 a Manual for the management of Traffic Accident Concentration (MTAC; Dutch AVOC) was introduced. The Ministry of Transport also introduced several additional funds in order to support regional and local authorities as regards the implemenation of measures on black spots. This year these additional funds have been transferred to the regional and local authorities. During a period of 15 years a lot of experiences with those additional funds have been gathers. These experiments can be used for an evaluation of the regulations in relation to the development of road safety. The results of the evaluation can be used by the regional and local authorities in order to maximize he cost/benefit ratio of measures. In this paper the additional funds are explained. Then the evaluation of one of the additional funds - `bijdrage-regeling experimenten AVOC' - is discussed. Finally, a cost-benefit analysis of measures is presented.
