Abstract

The aim of this document is to estimate the benefit-cost ratios (BCRs) of various road safety initiatives at either the macro or micro level. At the macro level, BCRs for both the programs in existence prior to the Social Development Committee (SDC) Report and for the programs recommended by the SDC are presented. The micro level analysis attempts to establish the BCRs of individual components of the new road safety initiatives package, endorsed in principle at the May 1986 Authority meeting. This package includes some extensions to the SDC recommendations as well as further new initiatives.
