Abstract

An outline is given of the study technique to identify the various costs in road collisions. Obtained were data from police records where drivers are required to report all accidents to the police and from follow up studies. Information was obtained from a hospital, panel beating firms, insurance companies, surgeons, doctors and court records. It is suggested that the cost of obtaining a mean reduction of 25% in collision risk might be as low as $ 70 to 80 in the retail price of vehicles.
