Cost effective public lighting. Part 1: Lamps.

Abstract

Lamp used for street lighting and research that is being carried out with a view to improving their cost effectiveness are previewed. Present practice is discussed and annual energy costs are compared to different lamp types which show the advantage of low pressure devices where low lumen outputs are required. It is concluded that sodium sources will become more dominant, and information on the latest developments relating to high pressure sodium lamps is included.
