Abstract

Road traffic congestion is a phenomenon which affects the lives of all city dwellers and is generally considered to be one of the evils of modern-day living. However the mechanisms which control congestion are often imperfectly understood and the cost burden such congestion imposes on society is frequently unknown. This report is concerned with both the facets of the traffic congestion occurring on South African roads.
