Abstract
The operation, performance, costs and effectiveness of the London Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) have been assessed during a period spanning two years (August 1991 - July 1993). Part I of this report assesses the processes of pre-hospital care and the pre-hospital costs associated with the London HEMS. In Part II an assessment of the effects of the London HEMS on patient outcomes and on total costs is made. (A)
