Abstract

Basically, the Thrie beam can be described as a triple corrugated beam compared to a double-corrugated W-beam. A series of impact tests were conducted on these blocked-out steel post median barrier and guardrail systems. Test conditions varied from 2200 to 4500 lbs vehicles with speeds ranging from 54 to 67 mph, and impact angles from 16 to 29 degrees. The results are presented.
