Abstract

Knowledge or information about aspects of the mechanics of vehicular impact, of the plastic deformation processes which result, and the consequences for human passengers, and how these destructive consequences can be reduced or minimized when a collision occurs, is presented. Vehicular import is reviewed under the heading of the four main classes of vehicle: motor cars, aircraft, ships, railway coaches.
