Abstract

This paper describes how an Advanced Transport Telematics (ATT) System Architecture is created. It draws on the author's experiences and covers the definition of requirements, defining what is inside and outside the Architecture, creating the basic Architecture building blocks, System Architecture tools, plus format and layout conventions. The term "System Architecture" is defined and reasons for its creation are explored. The paper is for ATT professionals tasked with creating System Architectures for whom this is a new or infrequent experience. It assumes that they have no computer systems training.
