Abstract

The traffic -guidance system deals with two goals: increasing road safety and easying the driving task. The growth of the traffic flow in the last years makes such systems more and more attractive. With some 'intelligent' on board you can give an optimal advice and you can increase the road safety. A car-driver has some problems: searching the best route, congestion, attention problems, perception problems and decision problems. The advisory system gives the car-driver advices so that he can drive his car on a save manner. This report gives criteria to present such advices. The bases of the most criteria are Reasons 'law of error' and a phase model of the accident process. The question visual vs auditory displays results mostly in auditory displays; binary signals (warning present /not present) can mostly better visual displayed. (Author/publisher)
