Abstract

An evaluation is given of the available information on speed restraining devices. The emphasis is on identifying the major ways in which pavement devices have been actually used in residential communities; evaluating community acceptance and the factors that influence it; describing the various approaches taken to solve problems such as accomodating public transport and other special vehicles, pedestrian crossings, or legal issues.
