A critical view of countermeasure development and evaluation.

Abstract

This paper consists of three Aarts. First some of the majormethodological difficulties associated with the evaluationof the effect of countermeasures focussing upon alcohol-related accidents will be discussed. This is followed by acritique of the rationale underlying legislation and theapplication of the laws which attempt to combat drinkingand driving. Finally, an effort will be made to indicateways in which the difficulties in both of the abz-w areasmay be overcome through the stimulation of public concernforroad safety.'
