Abstract

With respect to a vehicle disturbed suddenly by strong cross-wind, the authors investigated the aerodynamic force working on it and its behaviour to cross-wind by experimental analyses using a large full scale wind tunnel and side-wind blowers. From the experimental results, they proposed a mathematical model to simulate the response of vehicles to cross-wind and studied the adaptability of the model. In this paper, the mathematical model is investigated by theoretical and experimental analyses and an index of evaluation to estimate the sensitivity to cross-wind is proposed.
