Abstract

This report gives the Road Research Laboratory's estimate of the cost of accidents in 1968. A major change in method compared with LR 79 is that in calculating the effective loss of output of those who are killed in road accidents their future consumption is now not deducted from their future output. The average costs per accident at 1970 prices are: fatal accidents £19,000, serious accidents £1,400, slight accidents £250 and damage accidents £100. The average cost of all accidents divided by the number of injury accidents is £1,600. (Author/publisher)
