Abstract

The effect of medical factors on highway accidents and programs to regulate impaired drivers are discussed. The basis of such regulation programs focuses on the crash risk associated with a particular condition, the proportion of drivers with the condition, proportion of crashes attributable to the condition, the relative advantages and disadvantages of particular methods for regulating this group of drivers, and alternatives to the regulation of drivers.
