The current status of specialized transportation in Brazil.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to deal with real and projected experiences with specialized transportation in Brazil, from an overall view that reflects the state of the art. Among many cases, the authors selected those that can be considered representative of this kind of transport in the country, according to its social and economic conditions. The paper deals withsix basic categories of the transportation disadvantaged: (1) rural workers; (2) rural children; (3) low income urban workers; (4) unemployed; (5) elderly; and (6) handicapped.
