This report contains 29 case studies showcasing urban infrastructure treatments that have been used in Australia and New Zealand to improve conditions for bicycle users. These case studies are examples of infrastructure that is being delivered across Australian to increase cycling participation in line with the National Cycling Strategy objective of doubling cycling participation from 2011 to 2016. The report was prepared to address Priority 6 (Guidance and best practice) in the National Cycling Strategy 2011-16 which asks for the Australian Bicycle Council to Support the development of nationally-consistent guidance for stakeholders to use and share best practice across jurisdictions. The case studies cover the following areas: * at-grade intersections (cases 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17); * grade separated intersections (cases 19, 20, 21); * mid-block treatments (cases 7, 8, 9); * separated cycleways (cases 10, 11); * shared paths (cases 12, 13, 18, 22); * lighting and bicycle detection (cases 14, 15, 23); * off-road bicycle trails (cases 24, 25, 26); and * parking and end-of-trip facilities (cases 27, 28, 29). The case studies have been published in this report and have also been added to the wider repository of case studies available on the Australian Bicycle Council website (bicyclecouncil.com.au). The website also contains a range of other case studies that aim to deliver actions from the National Cycling Strategy 2011-16. (Author/publisher)
