Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 80 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on cycling safety, including cyclist behaviour, road safety training for cyclists, prevention of injury to cyclists, design and effectiveness of safety helmets, and the reporting of cycle accidents. Further subjects covered include the design and implementation of cycle lanes, cycle paths and cycle route networks in many parts of the world, junction design and safety aspects of bicycle design. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 1996 and 1999. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Road Research Documentation (IRRD) database. The previous issue of this title, CT 2.1, covered abstracts of publications added to the Database between 1993 and 1996.
