Abstract

The bicycle contributes substantially to the mobility of the Dutch people, presumably more so than in any other European country. Nearly every group of the population makes us of the bicycle on a larger scale, both in urban and rural areas. The cyclists have their specific road safety problems. After having shortly dealt with the extent and type of road safety of the cyclist, the effects of some specific measures for cyclists are discussed.
