Abstract

The increasing complexity of the work in traffic control centres calls for the development of decision support systems. In the framework of the DACCORD project, part of the Telematics Application Programme from the European Commission, the development of such a decision support system, called BOSS, is undertaken. The system will be implemented in the Amsterdam region in the Netherlands. The BOSS consists of three components: an estimation system, a prediction system and a scenario evaluation capability. The first stage of the development of BOSS, the implementation of the estimation system, is currently nearing its completion. The creation of a suitable network has proven to be a major undertaking. Connecting BOSS to the data collection system was, due to the open architecture of it, relatively simple.
