Abstract

The Danish RDS-TMC project aims at establishing an RDS-TMC service in Denmark starting in March 1998. This development is carried out with support from the TEN-T coordination project ECORTIS. RDS-TMC is considered the first of many coming computerised information systems for travellers. For this reason the Danish developments have been based on the emerging general standards for traffic data, DATEX. This basis will also facilitate the international exchange of traffic information between traffic information centres abroad and in Denmark. The use of the DATEX standard introduces a minor problem through the need for conversion between DATEX based messages and RDS-TMC messages. This and other similar problems are approached in the Transport Telematics Application Programme FORCE. (A)
