Abstract

The development of the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) is briefly described. This system of data collection is used to deal with the problem of limited resources. The four major objectives of NEISS are: (1) to identify the scope and magnitude of the problem; (2) to establish priorities among the multitude of competing problems; (3) to identify the type of remedial activities; and (4) to measure the effectiveness of the program activity.
