Abstract

A trauma registry is a database that contains detailed information about major injuries. In Western Australia four individual tertiary hospitals, Royal Perth Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Fremantle Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital collect this information. The Western Australian Trauma Registry (WATR) has been an ongoing project first devised by the Western Australian Trauma Services Advisory Group (WATSAG). The aim of the WATR is to combine the data from the four existing trauma registries in Western Australia, and develop a state-wide trauma registry. The purpose of this report is to define the variables included in the WATR. (Author/publisher)
