Abstract

In order to build a solid transport database and obtain an in-depth understanding of the travel demands and patterns in Beijing, a series of transport surveys have been undertaken by Beijing municipal government in 2005/06. Household interview survey is the most important undertaking with sample size over 80,000 households. Supplementary surveys were carried out together with a complete screenline traffic count, such as taxi survey, metro survey, special generator interview survey, and hotel guest interview survey. This paper presents the process undertaken to expand the different survey data and most importantly the consolidation process into one coherent description and providing a validated database of the travel patterns in Beijing.
