Abstract
A traffic conflict is an observable situation in which two or more road users approach each other in space and time to such an extent that a collision is imminent if their movements remain unchanged. Starting from this hypothesis there are now three methods for conflict-observation techniques available, viz (1) the video recording technique (2) the technique of observation by a person, and (3) conflict study as introduced in Sweden. The development of a technique particularly suited for the dutch situation is discussed.
