Abstract
The effects of the motorway information systems near Delft and Utrecht are described. The systems are used mostly for lane closures (road works) and for automatic incident denumber of accidents decreased by 23%, shunt accidents in queus by 46%; the number of injured and killed motorists went down by 25% and vehicles involved in accidents were reduced by 28%. Capacity increased slightly; 75% of the road users judge in favour of the system.
