Abstract

Approximately 326000 dwellings are subjected to road traffic noise of 65 db (A) or higher. 75% of these dwellings are situated alongside municipal highways. 50% of the dwellings in these category are situated in the four large cities. The total cost of soundproofing homes to decrease the sound level to 45 dB(A) is estimated 1.6 millard guilders.
