Abstract

An exploratory study has been done into the realization of the public transport policy as it is described in the Second Structure Scheme on Traffic and Transport, in order to get insight into the way in which this policy is worked out by municipalities and into the problems in this area. The municipalities that have been investigated are: Amsterdam, Eindhoven and Groningen. Standards have been formulated on the basis of which the municipal policy will be tested in order to see if the municipal policy corresponds with the national policy. Furthermore, attention is paid to problems through which the realization of the municipal policy does not take place as required by the Ministry of Transport and the municipalities.
