Abstract
Division of the urban space into traffic zones and resi-dential areas makes the urban environment scanty. Recentpublications have draven the attention to ways of designby which the physical seperation of modes is less strict. The article deals with a redesign proposal of the mainstreet in Goirle (17.000 inh.). The aim is reducing thespeed of motor car traff ic, improving the crossability ofthe street, and boosting road safety. Parking problemswill be tackled and noise levels reduced.
