Abstract

In this paper the results are presented of a study into the effects of the expected developments in the information and communication technology (ICT) field on transport demand. The focus of the study is on business-related passenger travel. The main conclusion of the study is that ICT developments will not necessarily cause a reduction of business travel. In addition to substitution effects, ICT will also generate new business travel. The average travel distance will increase. A more equal spread of traffic throughout the day is also expected. (A)
