Abstract

The rolling noise component of the total vehicle noise is continually increasing. This is not so much due to an increase in rolling noise but more to a decrease of drivelling noise. With the current noise measurement procedures for type approval, too much emphasis is laid on the registration of drive-line noise, while rolling noise has an uncontrollable influence on the measurement. For more accurate registration of the total vehicle noise, it is necessary to draw up specifications for the road surface to be measured on.
