The influence of road characteristics and the environment on the driving speed of cars inside built-up areas is studied in this report. In the analysis of the driving task of the car driver is shown that the speed behaviour of car drivers is an anticipating behaviour. Influencing the driving behaviour are such items as, for example, the number of buildings, the number of parked cars on the left or right side of the road, the evenness of the surface and the effective width of the traffic lane. There is also a big difference in the average speed driven on flexible pavement and rigid pavement and on asphalt roads and brick pavement.
