The chain is as strong as the weakest link - The Rusher concept Many businesses are not easily accessible through public transportation. In most cases, the distances are too long to walk (2-5 km). Furthem1ore the available public transport isn't a good alternative due to its infrequency and inconvenience. Employers and employees likewise think this is a problem. One solution to meet this mobility demand is to offer an individual transport concept with commuter's appeal. The concept should be flexible and create a fun image. It is therefore that the Rusher concept has been developed. The Rusher concept is a full service, individual transportation solution, that takes in to account the vehicle itself, storage, and management. The feasibility of this concept was applied to three business parks in the Schiphol area. The conclusion is that the concept costs are on the high side when compared with available business park's public transportation. However, when the concept costs are compared to the costs of private business transportation, it is quite competitive. Soft concept aspects, such as on demand availability, convenience, safety etc. certainly make the Rusher more desirable for the commuting employees. The Rusher concept study has been completed only to a level of theory. To test the practicality of the study there is a need for a trial phase. Within this trial test phase, pro's en con's of the Rusher system will surface. In addition, the target market will have an opportunity to add their insight, in terms of wishes and demands.
