Abstract

In The Netherlands 4 to 5 per cent of the national income is lost owing to damages and losses caused by road accidents. This does not include the financial consequences of permanent effects and stress afterwards. Cost indices are still rising although to a lesser degree than before. Lack of safety on the road has been increasing since 1982. It is expected that by 1990 economic losses will amount to some 20 billion guilders per annum.
