Abstract

In the Netherlands 4 to 5% of the National Income is being lost owing to damages and losses caused by road accidents. This does not include financial consequences of permanent effects and stress afterwards. Cost indices are still rising although to a lesser degree than before. Road unsafety has been increasing since 1982. It is expected that by 1990economic losses will amount to some 20 billion guilders per annum.
