Abstract

The Netherlands has introduced in 1974 the 100 km per hour speed limit on motorways on grounds of safety. In 1977 is shown that the number of drivers who neglect this speed limit is increasing. In this report some questions with regard to there problems are discussed (1) are the legal prescriptions regarding the speed really respected? (2) what is the motivation of the road user, and (3) what is the motivation of the road user to neglect this measure?
