Abstract

The influence of G.J.S. Wilde's theory on risk compensation on driving behaviour is discussed. What makes driving in congested conditions dangerous is the fact that a driver sometimes does not realize the real level of risk, for instance his discreasing braking power on wet roads. He should have a more objective image of his position and possibilities.
