Abstract

This paper describes the methodology and the results of two tool audits from the perspective of transportation policy analysis. The two studies were performed for the Dutch Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management (V&W). The aim of these studies was to evaluate the following tools: freight and passenger transport system models. The main question treated in both studies concerned the availability of model variables that can be associated with either the point of intervention in the system (related to a policy measure) or the indicators of the impacts to assess. The evaluation results focus on the scope of the set of models available to V&W, in terms of their ability to evaluate specific policy/impact.
